Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Who is eligible to apply?

Students of Hela origin by blood and custom, students whose non-Hela parent or guardian has served in Hela's public sector for more than three years, and non-Hela applicants who have personally served in Hela's public sector for more than three years. See the full eligibility list above.

Can a student with HECAS or TESAS apply?

Possibly — HUEF does not automatically exclude students already receiving HECAS, TESAS or another form of assistance. You must declare every scholarship or sponsorship you already receive, and HUEF will assess whether an outstanding fee component can still be supported under current policy.

Can postgraduate students apply?

Final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students are eligible under the new-intake category, alongside national high school students and approved overseas students.

Can overseas students apply?

Approved overseas students are eligible under the new-intake category. Contact the HUEF office if you're unsure whether your institution qualifies.

What documents must I upload?

This depends on whether you're a new tertiary student, a national high-school student, or a continuing/re-enrolling student — see the "Eligibility and required documents" section above for the exact list for your category.

What file types and sizes are accepted?

Documents must be uploaded in PDF format through this portal. Check the upload screen for the current maximum file size per document.

Can I edit an application after submission?

Once submitted, an application moves to HUEF review. If a coordinator needs a correction, your account status will change to "changes requested" and you'll be able to update the specific information asked for.

How will I know whether I am approved?

Sign in and check your application status at any time. You'll see a clear Approved, Rejected, or Changes Requested status once a coordinator has made a decision.

What happens if a document is rejected?

Your application status will change to "changes requested" with a note explaining what's needed. You can then upload a corrected or replacement document through your account.

Does submitting an application guarantee sponsorship?

No. Submitting a complete application means it will be reviewed — final sponsorship decisions are always made by a HUEF coordinator, not automatically by this system.

How can I contact HUEF?

See the Coordinator and Office details in the footer below for phone, email, and office hours.

What should I do if I forget my password?

Use the "Forgot your password?" link on the sign-in page to reset it by email.
